This policy covers hometownfieldguides.com: the waitlist, buying a guide, and the pages on this site. It does not cover gardenwithlilly.com, which has its own privacy policy.
Who we are
Hometown Field Guides is run by Supertrained Inc., a Florida corporation, doing business as “Hometown Field Guides, by Garden with Lilly.”
Supertrained Inc. 7901 4th St N STE 300 St Petersburg, FL 33702 United States
Privacy questions and requests: hello@hometownfieldguides.com. We have not appointed a data protection officer.
Who this site is for
This site is for adults. You must be 18 or older to join the waitlist or buy a guide. We don’t knowingly collect anything from or about a child: no child’s name, no child’s age, no account for a child. See “Children” below.
What we collect
Waitlist sign-up. Your email address, your ZIP code, and, if you tell us, who the guide is for (my children, my grandchildren, a class, or me). We also record that you checked the box confirming you’re 18 or older, and the date you signed up.
Confirming your sign-up. We send one confirmation email through Resend. You’re only counted on the waitlist after you click the link in that email (this is called double opt-in). If you never click it, we don’t add you to the active list.
Buying a guide. Checkout is run by Stripe, not by us. Stripe collects your email address and payment details directly. We never see or store your full card number. After a purchase, Stripe tells us your email address, which guide you bought, the amount, and the date, so we can send your download and keep a sales record.
After you buy. On the thank-you page, we may ask an optional, open-text question, like what almost stopped you from buying or what you’re hoping to see in the guide. Answering is up to you. If you answer, we keep your answer together with your order.
Downloading your guide. When you use a download link, our hosting provider (Vercel) logs that the link was used, so we can tell if a link is being shared or abused.
If you email us. We keep the email and your address so we can reply and keep a record of what we agreed to, including refund requests.
Website logs. Vercel, our hosting provider, keeps short technical logs of visits to run and secure the site: things like IP address, browser type, and time. We don’t use these logs to build a profile of you.
We don’t put your email address in a page’s web address (URL).
How we use this information
- Send the waitlist confirmation and updates you signed up for.
- Process your purchase and deliver your guide.
- Answer your emails, including support and refund requests.
- Read feedback you send us to improve future guides.
- Keep the site working and secure, and stop abuse of our forms.
- Keep records we need for accounting, taxes, and to handle disputes.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of companies to run this site. They can only use your information to do the job we hire them for.
| Company | What they do | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Runs checkout and processes your payment | Your email address and payment details. We never receive your full card number. |
| Resend | Sends our emails: waitlist confirmation, download links, receipts, and replies | Your email address and the content of the email |
| Vercel | Hosts this website and the download links | Website visit logs and download-link activity |
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
We may share information if the law requires it, to defend a legal claim, or to protect people using this site.
Cookies and tracking
As of the date at the top of this page, this site does not run advertising cookies and does not use any analytics tool. Visiting the site does not put a tracking cookie on your device.
If that changes, we will say so here before it happens, including if we add a tool that doesn’t use cookies (some analytics tools track without one). We may add the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) pixel to measure ads later. If we do, we’ll disclose it here first, and we will never send anything about a child through it.
We don’t currently show a cookie banner, because we don’t set tracking cookies. If that changes, we’ll add one.
How long we keep information
- Unconfirmed waitlist sign-ups (you didn’t click the confirmation email): deleted after 14 days.
- Confirmed waitlist sign-ups: kept until the guide for your area ships and we email you, or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first.
- Purchases and receipts: kept for 7 years, which is how long small businesses in the US are generally advised to keep sales and tax records.
- Download-link activity logs: the link itself stops working after 30 days. We keep a short record of link activity for about 90 days to catch abuse, then delete it.
- Post-purchase feedback: kept with your order record for up to 2 years so we can use it to improve the guides, then deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you.
- Support emails: kept as long as our inbox needs them to answer you and show what we agreed to.
- Website logs: kept for a short period (we’re assuming about 30 days) to run and secure the site, based on our hosting provider’s standard settings.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we have about you;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- send you a copy; or
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Email hello@hometownfieldguides.com to ask. We’ll reply within 30 days. If your request is complex, we may need up to 60 more days, and we’ll tell you why.
You can leave the waitlist at any time using the unsubscribe link in any waitlist email, or by asking us.
Deleting your account information doesn’t delete a guide you already downloaded, and asking for a refund doesn’t require you to delete the file (see our Refund Policy).
You don’t have to give us any information. Without an email address, we can’t add you to the waitlist or send you a guide you’ve bought.
California and other US state privacy laws
Several US states, including California, give residents specific privacy rights. We believe this business is small enough that most of these laws don’t legally require us to follow their formal procedures. We’re choosing to honor the same core rights for everyone who asks, no matter where you live: see “Your choices and rights” above.
In the past 12 months, we have not sold or shared personal information, and we don’t sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18.
Children
This site and its guides are for adults. They are not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that a child has given us information, we’ll delete it. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, email hello@hometownfieldguides.com.
The waitlist’s optional “who is it for” answer (for example, “my children”) does not include any child’s name, age, or other identifying detail, and we don’t ask for one.
Visitors outside the United States
We’re a US company, and this policy is written for US law. If you’re visiting or buying from outside the US, your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws can be different from where you live. We haven’t appointed a representative in the EU or UK. If you’re in a country with its own privacy law, you may still have rights under that law; email us and we’ll do our best to help.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top and, if the change is significant, make it easy to notice on this page.
