Your privacy choices
The link “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” at the bottom of every page opens your choices, when JavaScript is on.
Opt out of selling, sharing and targeted advertising
Choose Reject all, or turn off Advertising and save. That stops Google Ads, the Meta pixel and the TikTok pixel in this browser, and removes the cookies these tools set on this site that our script can reach. California law calls this advertising “selling” and “sharing” personal information; other states call it “targeted advertising”.
Turn off analytics
Turn off Analytics and save. That stops Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity in this browser.
Your browser’s privacy signal
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of selling and sharing. Advertising and Microsoft Clarity’s session recording stay off in that browser, and “Opt-Out Request Honored” shows next to the link at the bottom of the page for as long as the signal is on. If the signal stops, we don’t take that as permission to start advertising again.
Where you are
In the United States, and whenever we can’t tell where you are, nothing runs until you choose. Outside the United States, none of these tools runs, so there is nothing to turn off. We tell these apart by the location our host sees for your connection, so a VPN can put you in a different group.
Without JavaScript
None of these tools can run without JavaScript. With it turned off, they collect nothing here.
Your choice is kept in this browser
We keep it in this browser, not on our servers: your choices in the browser’s own storage, and any opt-out also in a small cookie, htfg_optout, that lasts a year. It works only in the browser you choose in. If you clear your browsing data, or use another browser or device, choose again there. An opt-out never expires. We ask again a year after you agree.
Other requests
These tools never receive your plain name or email address (with advertising allowed, they receive one-way hashes of them after a purchase, as the privacy policy’s “Purchases” section describes), so an email can’t turn them off in your browser; use the link or the signal in each browser you use. To see, correct or delete what we hold about an order or a message, write to hello@hometownfieldguides.com. The privacy policy lists every tool and cookie.
